"ENERGY" LABELS ON ALL VEHICLES
UNITED STATES

In a period of "environmental correctness", almost anything goes so the United States are taking great leaps towards so-called energy labels. Starting from 2013, all motor vehicles will have to be endowed with an identity card. The card, that will have to be submitted to the control of police forces, will display the fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions of cars and trucks. The decision was taken by the Environment Protection Agency and by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
The two Agencies established that, starting from 2012, it will be possible to equip vehicles with a "label" displaying information on the type of vehicle, if it is fuelled with gas or gasoline, if it is electric or hybrid, as well as consumption levels correlated to the distances covered in urban or extra-urban areas, annual fuel costs and also the average fuel economy achieved over a 5-year period.
