SAUDI ARAMCO CEO ADDRESSES CHANGES IN THE ENERGY WORLD
SAUDI ARABIA

Riyadh - Four new elements are radically changing the global energy industry and to address them it is necessary to renew the energy debate focusing on six key policies. This statement summarizes the paper entitled "Resetting the energy debate, the need for realism," which Khalid A. Al-Falih, President and CEO of Saudi Aramco, presented when inaugurating a three day conference at the King Abdullah Center for Petroleum Studies and Research. The four elements that have "overturned the terms of the global energy debate are, the new unexpected abundance of hydrocarbons (shale gas in primis); the uncertain commercial feasibility of renewables and other forms of alternative energy; the global economic crisis  with consequent changes in the field of energy investments and increasing attention paid to environmental policies.
