TRANSNEFT ASSESSES JOINT VENTURE FOR ROTTERDAM PORT
RUSSIAN FEDERATION

Moscow - The holder of a monopoly on Russian pipelines, Transneft is considering the possibility of setting up a joint venture with the Russian holding company Summa Capital in Rotterdam, the global maritime port for the oil trade. This operation, reported by the on-line newspaper Gazeta.ru quoting sources in the energy sector, would allegedly be sponsored by the government in Moscow which aims to gradually transform crude from the Urals (brought to Rotterdam from Primorsk) into a benchmark for the international markets, just like Brent. After signing an agreement with Dutch-owned VTTI investing one billion dollars in a new oil terminal in Rotterdam, Summa Capital owned by the Caucasian entrepreneur Ziyavudinu Magomedov, has now asked Transneft to form a joint venture to negotiate on Russian crude, as announced by Transneft's CEO Nikolai Tokarev.
